Every day, German police have to intervene against violent extremists, often risking their own lives in the process. The situation does not seem to be improving, while the number of refugees coming to Germany continues to rise. The partners of these brave women and men live in constant worry and uncertainty as to whether their loved ones will return home safely. It is the least we can do to give these brave civil servants an appropriate pay rise.
